Agricultural Work Program

Within the institute an area has been set aside to grow Chinese cabbage, Japanese Radish, tomatos etc. One addict at the institute is also raising herbs using organic fertilizer made on site. Since the area is not flat and has many stones and rocks it is difficult to cultivate a large area although the area is being enlarged little by little by moving rocks aside, digging troughs and staking out.

Daisuke (36) talks about his experience.

I didn't enjoy anything when I first arrived in Fujioka. I didn't even enjoy using drugs really. I had such terrible trouble keeping myself in shape that I took drugs even though I hated them. Maybe I should have found some kind of hobby, but nothing interested me at that time. Now I am very glad to have our garden. It was covered with stones and rocks before so nothing grew there. But now we have made it. Gardening really heals me.
