Awakening House
is an APARI managed research center for drug addicts.
The recovery program
is based on twice daily meetings ( group therapy ) for addicts. The
focus of these meetings are on encouraging addicts to reflect on their
experiences and lives, to speak from the heart as well as listening
to the experiences and concerns of other addicts who wish to recover.
NA (Narcotics Anonymous)
an external self help group also participate in meetings. Other activities
include therapy via our Sports Program such as softball and Badminton,
the Agricultural Work Program and a Ceramic Art Program. Other programs
are available to encourage participants to motivate themselves and their
independency.
The Institute is
located 1 hour from Tokyo in Fujioka-shi, Gunma Prefecture, surrounded
by nature and mountains. In this environment addicts are able to stabilize
their condition and recover from their dependency away from access to
drugs.
