Suspended Sentence.
This is the system where a sentence of punishment shall lose effect if the period is passed safely without any further crimes being committed. This is used when the sentence of imprisonment is less than 5 years and more than 1 year depending on the circumstances. The judge decides if this is appropriate or should also include other punishments such as a monetary fine. This system is being used more and more recently, with approximately 50 percent of cases getting suspended sentences.
