Bail.
This is money deposited in a court as a guarantee. In the case of psycho-stimulants it is usually 1.5 million yen to 2 million yen depending on if you are a student or a salaried worker. Bail is repaid if the defendant does not flee until the trial finishes, however if the defendant flees this money will not be repaid and is withheld by the court. The amount of money paid as a guarantee to prevent the defendant fleeing is determined in accordance with the defendants economic situation.
