Fujioka Gymnasium is used for the sports program for 2 hours daily in the afternoons. Badmington, Table Tennis, Volleyball etc are undertaken depending on the program participants wishes.
Hitoshi (25) talks about his experiences

When I first came to the institute I really didn't want to move my body and found it most disagreeable. Even when invited to participate in the sports I refused. I had no enthusiasm for improving my health at that time. One year has passed now at the institute doing various activities. My attitude has changed and now enjoy participating in sports through the institute. I have come to appreciate sports as a companion.

2000 Steps Hike

About 15 minutes by car from the institute is a mountain hiking course called 2000 steps. The 2000 steps climb to an altitude of 550 metres above sea level and are made of logs running up the hillside to the summit. The course is famous and was constructed by local people with great care. The mountain hiking course is surrounded by Japanese cedar trees where participants can cleanse the mind and body and feel refreshed.

Shin (27) talks about his experiences.

To be honest I initially thought the 2000 steps would be easy. However, once I saw it I was very suprised. There was a chain hanging down from the cliff which climbers use. After reaching only half way I was breathing heavily and I felt light-headed. I was determined to reach the top though. The view from the summit was wonderful, I had forgotten how beautiful nature could be and felt proud to have achieved something. I really appreciated the natural environment and local people for providing and maintaining such a beautiful place to hike.
